Aluminum Foil up to 0.20 mm Thick

Aluminum foil with a thickness of up to 0.20 mm is commonly used in applications requiring thin foil, down to 0.005 mm, such as in electrical capacitors and other specialized purposes.

Most aluminum foil is rolled from 99% minimum purity metal of the 1000 series and is typically supplied in an annealed state, although it may also be delivered strain-hardened. For specialized applications, higher purity aluminum may be used. Due to its low density, aluminum foil offers a high surface-area-to-weight ratio; for example, 1 kg of foil with a thickness of 0.05 mm can cover 7.41 square meters. Its vapor barrier properties, hygienic nature, pliability, and dead-fold characteristics make it ideal for a wide range of packaging uses.

Like other aluminum products, foil is an excellent reflector of radiant heat. This makes it highly effective in packaging and is also the basis for its widespread use—alone or laminated to materials such as paper or cardboard—for thermal insulation in buildings, vehicles, ships, and more.

In electrical engineering, ultra-thin foil is commonly used as a material for dry dielectric capacitors. For electrolytic capacitors, ultra-pure foil is typically employed to ensure the optimal formation of the oxide layer.
